First glimpses through state highway 5 – the portal into Rotorua is one minute of pure magic through a moving capsule. Road trips shared, a road we converge. The signal to home, the signal of nearing. This forested tunnel means slowed speed, a sigh of relief, and a breath of green air.
From a taster of rotorua, next come soaring, plummeting, rushing plunges. Diving head first through this flavoured landscape and embracing fizzing waters. The Kaituna river features adventure, adrenaline, kaitiaki, and history for those who set foot.
The lake and its multitude of nourishing inlets. Children in crowds gather to plunge in cold water springs. We nourish the children and they fill us with hope and abundance. These are places tasheart found a sense of belonging and community.

In an increasingly digital world, capturing these encounters have become effortless. Art represents inward significance to savour and collect memories in the rhythm of time.
Inspired by the expression and philosophy of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, an artist who painted spirals against the direction of the clock and believed straight lines are not sacred, this exhibition explores unconventional viewpoints with a profound respect for the Aotearoa nature, using colours to capture frames of mind.
The immersive art experience featuring Te Rotorua-nui-ā-Kahumatamomoe, looks through the lens of an artist and stimulates the discovery of their inner-artist, tangata whenua – ‘being’ of this land. The chain of thoughts culminates in a challenge for viewers to capture a simple gratification on canvas – whether from the backyard, in the neighbourhood, or in time spent with whānau
